Great Gatsby

This book definitely had some tough vocabulary with quite a few words that I didn't recognize.
The part that really made an impact was the fact that Tom and Daisy stayed together even though
Tom knew Daisy was going after Gatsby. Following that Gatsby stocked Daisy outside her window.
Then following that he got shot by Wilson, with these three events in a row was a knock out punch
for me because I was so interested. One part that kind of shocked me was the part where Jordan
told Nick she was already engaged to another man.
I wish I could know everything that goes on in Nick's mind because he is so complex, at one part
he kind of remembers how it's his birthday instead of celebrating it or anything, he's just very casual
about it. He has an extremely different mind set than everyone else and is one in a million. He is also
very compliant meaning if one of his friends asks him to do something or suggests something he tries
it, dating Jordan for instance.
I honestly didn't connect with any characters in this novel so I was pretty neutral while reading.
I would definitely recommend this book to older more experienced readers (honors 10 or higher)
because of the difficult vocabulary. But overall a good book with an interesting plot which kept
my attention pretty well.

  2. Wow i agree i took the last couple of chapters very hard... even though i also didn't connect with any of the characters. For me this book made me feel better about myself and my life. I really liked the way Jordan told him that she was engaged at the end of the novel.

  3. Oh by the way you can read the whole post by copy and pasting on Microsoft word or something.

  4. Try checking your dashboard settings or page setup; you may have measurement/margin alignment issues. But don't worry about it; it's technology and sometimes that says it all. One other thing you can try is changing your layout. Tinker with it if you want to.

I am glad you were neutral with this book; I think Nick allows the reader to feel that way at times because he is so neutral himself. He doesn't get carried away or overly involved with anything; he is just the silent observer. I too would like to get into Nick's mind to really know what he is thinking about all the nonsense that takes place. But remember, he doesn't pass judgement on anyone. How does that happen because it is a difficult thing to do. Good Job!

  5. I completely agree with everything you said. The parts in the book that you thought were interesting and kept your attention also kept mine. Especially the fact that Tom and Daisy stayed together through the book.
